Pink Villain Mask from Madura |
£70 |
![]() This character is a demon villain who might be Rahwana from the Indian Ramayana epic, although usually Rahwana is depicted in red rather than pink. The mask has been professionally carved out of a soft wood according to traditional rules on form and has been given a moustache out of yarn. The yarn and the type of enamel paint used would suggest that this mask was made after 1970. This mask has rarely or never been used and might have been made for the tourist market. |
